Victoria, B.C. Jan. 28, 2010 – While planning and strategizing for the upcoming year, ParetoLogic recently had cause to look back and celebrate their 2009 accomplishments. The security and utility software vendor ranked on the VIATeC 25, which features the Victoria technology companies with the highest revenue last year. Amidst the economic troubles of the past year, ParetoLogic not only remained buoyant, but showed dramatic gains for another successive year.

The Victoria Advanced Technology Council, who compiled the list, is dedicated to the expansion and development of the technology industry in Greater Victoria. Dan Gunn, Executive Director of VIATeC, said in an official press release that “These results further demonstrate that our sector has come of age and is firmly established as one of the lynch pins of our local economic future.”

ParetoLogic’s presence on the VIATeC 25 follows a particularly fruitful year for the software developers. Their latest release, FileCure, cracked a long dormant niche in the home software market by offering users an easy way to identify unknown files and quickly open them. ParetoLogic’s more established programs, XoftSpySE Anti-Spyware 7.0 and DriverCure, both received a substantial upgrade in appearance and performance, and numerous other updates were made to their software lineup.

Elton Pereira, ParetoLogic’s CEO, President, and co-founder, said of the VIATeC ranking that “ParetoLogic’s success is a primary result of our global sales expansion which includes millions of satisfied customers. However, we are at heart a Victoria based company, and we are grateful for this recognition.”

Victoria, B.C. December 16 – Getting an early start on Christmas charity, the technical support team from ParetoLogic have donated software to the Christian Care Foundation for Children with Disabilities (CCD). Founded in 1986, CCD provides care and support for abandoned children with disabilities in Thailand. In an effort to teach children vital technology skills, CCD has a network of PCs, continually in need of repair and upkeep.

“This should keep their PCs running in top shape” said Tony Rodrigues, ParetoLogic’s Director of Customer Support. The ParetoLogic support team donated Unlimited Site Licenses of RegCure registry cleaner and XoftSpySE Anti-Spyware 7.0, valid for every computer onsite. RegCure offers the ability to repair the Windows registry to improve performance and stop errors, while XoftSpySE provides fast and powerful protection against spyware, Trojans, and other malware.

CCD staff and volunteers use computers to coordinate all aspects of the charity’s operations. Not only that, but the children at CCD practice new skills on the PCs, to help them learn and develop their communications skills. “A slow or infected computer is not fun to learn or work on, and this will make things much easier,” said Rodrigues.

“We are very grateful for ParetoLogic’s generous donation,” said Mike Blackburn, CCD’s volunteer IT Manager. “Provision of software like this ensures that our systems run smoothly, and also allows us to channel a higher proportion of donated funds towards the care of the children themselves.”

About ParetoLogic, Inc.

In 2004 four brothers recognized that modern computer users need not rely on computer repair technicians to maintain their own PC’s. Victoria, B.C. December 8 – Most people are careful to shred their financial documents and keep a careful hold on their personal paperwork, but what about online and on their PCs? With the ever-present threat of spyware and identity theft, ensuring that personal details remain safe should be a top priority for all computer users. The latest version of ParetoLogic’s Privacy Controls software aims to make this task easier, and a lot more thorough.

Every action taken on a PC is recorded. Downloaded programs, visited websites, opened files, entered passwords and even instant messages are locked deep in a computer’s memory. A clever hacker who infiltrates a computer may copy online banking information for illegal transactions, steal personal data for identity theft, hijack email accounts for spamming, or snoop into the user’s private life.

Norman Eldridge, Technical Product Manager at ParetoLogic, said that “even with security software protecting against malware, people need to consider other methods that their personal data may be compromised: selling their used PC, having their computer stolen, or even being spied on by people who share their system.”

The latest web browsers have responded to this threat with new privacy options and ‘stealth’ modes. Internet Explorer 8′s InPrivate mode, for example, stores only the cookies and temporarily internet files required to browse normally, and then deletes these files automatically. However, Mr. Eldridge explained that this is not enough. “To fully erase your private details and history, you need to overwrite the data. Otherwise it is recoverable.” Privacy Control’s shred functionality does just that, overwriting browsing history, application history, and user-selected files. This permanently destroys the data, which cannot be restored, even with highly developed data recovery tools.

The latest version of Privacy Controls upgrades these shred features, enhancing the scanning process to clean personal information from the latest programs. The expansion also adds support for the new 32-bit Windows 7 operating system. “A new operating system does not necessarily provide new security for personal information. If anything, the latest OS has more ways for your data to be recorded,” said Mr. Eldridge. Along with support for Windows 7 32-bit, Privacy Controls also supports Windows Vista and XP.

Victoria, B.C. (PRWEB) December 9, 2009 — ParetoLogic has set out to finally put to rest a problem that has plagued PC owners for years: files with unknown or unsupported extensions. Their latest program, FileCure, provides a straightforward way to identify unknown files and open them, as well as repair errors with file associations.

Adrian Pereira, ParetoLogic’s Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, explained that “This software really came from our customers. They kept asking us – ‘do you have a program that does this?’ Now we do.”

From Word documents to Adobe PDFs, every file has an associated extension. However, often users will come across a file with an unknown extension, a file that has been associated with an incompatible program, or a file lacking the necessary software. Regardless of the cause, the effect is the same – the file does not open. “Most people don’t have the in-depth Windows knowledge necessary to fix all their file extension and association errors,” Pereira said. The ease of trading files in the 21st century, be it through email, USB keys, file-sharing software, or online downloads, has only exacerbated this problem.

FileCure combines sophisticated software with an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. Users can perform a full scan with FileCure or simply drag and drop a frustrating file onto the desktop icon. FileCure also scans automatically when a user attempts to open an unsupported file. FileCure then provides users with the two main items necessary to open a file: the type of the file and the program necessary to open it. The required program is delivered through online downloads, linked for easy access through the FileCure application itself. Pereira said of the software: “It’s a simple but important process. You need to know what the file is, and you need a program to open it. FileCure does it all for you.”
